f23 rebuild q's

im looking for a rebuild kit
i found some but none of them are oem im just not to comfortable with after market rebuild kits
ive done a few old school 350 305 chevy motors witch are pretty straight forward main bearings cam bearings gaskets piston rings good cleaning so on and so on
but ive never messed with a inline 4

so in retrospect of a old school motor what is the difference
like what am i looking as far as balance shaft and typical parts that i wont see in a old school american motor

and is there a rebuild kit that is trusted oem or aftermarket
i plan on making this motor see another 200+k miles as well

any help will be appreciated

im not in a hurry planning on doing this in a couple months and need to research as much as possible so i dont run into something that will leaving me scratching my head

I think, It'll be cheaper to just replace the whole motor with another F23. You can find a JDM f23 for about $600-700

Delete the balance shafts. Buy oem k20 pistons, oem green bearings, oem gasket kit, gtg

Hmm.. Yea my Dads coupe is f23 and is needing a rebuild also and I was wondering the same..

I've seen that some of the k series motor internals are close to the same specs as f23 but I havent been able to find difinitive answers as to if we can swap parts for a lil power gain without spending buku bucks.

So the k20 pistons is the best bet? What about the valve train or cam? Will the pistons work the same on stock ecu or will it have to be tuned. I mean how will it affect compression and all that?

Sorry for all the questions lol.... Not trying to thread jack just need the info

Just the pistons, maybe the rods. It will raise compression.

From what ive read the rods are longer so Idk if that will work but I think we will do the pistons since he wants to keep it NA but wants a lil more power.

Will the k24 pistons work if we bore it out? Or just stick with k20

im not looking to build it i have a toy that is in the works for that
this is my daily just want to keep the original motor and freashn it up
i think im just going to inspect rods and crank and pistons replace ring hone it and have the head rebuilt plus all the oil seals cause from what is see there light stains around everyone of them

ive read a few things online about de-stroking for higher rpms but that could have been bs
