Hey guys I am starting a new job in a couple weeks and will be making good money. So i am debating whether or not to mess with my car or buy something nice. Was just wondering if it would be smart to try and lightly build an f23a1 as in getting a more aggressive cam and valve springs. Get a new ecu and have it tuned. Just the basic stuff. Was wondering if this motor has any potential at all or if ill just be wasting my money. Ive been talking to a local shop and they say an H22 swap will cost about 2500 not including the motor so that will take a while to save up so im looking at cheaper options.

I'd say just buy a better platform if you want power.. Only reason ikeep mine is because I love the way she looks lol.. Only way you're gonna make any power is to boost it any then you're lookin at 3-6k just t o start, but for that money you could buy a rwd and have more fun..

I'm saving up for a bike to get my speed kick and I will keep my accord as a DD

$2500 for an H22 swap, not including motor? That’s a joke.

Most motors have potential, for a price. Yours does, check out some of the built F23’s on here. But to get any serious power increase in these cars, it’s not cheap. If you love the car and you’re going to keep it for a while, then it may be worth it for you. Otherwise, if the pay of your new job allows for driving a significantly nicer car, you might consider that.

Talk to another shop. Its time consuming, but not that hard. Chk out Bisimoto's website. They have a lot of parts to build up the motor. How much power do you want? There are things you can do to the F23 like G23 build, mild turbo setup or all motor buildup that would be about the same as the cost of h22. I only swapped my motor, cuz I got it dirt cheap and my old motor was on its last leg.
What is the condition of the rest of the car? Any other mods already done?

If you have the means, I would trade the car & get something better.

My car is a beater that I DD.
I am saving to turbo my 01 GS300.

I'll put this out there... I spent all together maybe $1100 on my h22 swap. But I got my h22 from a friend brand new for $500. Lol

You gotta pay if you want to play, all I got to say.

I always hear nothing but problems with the g23 builds. And honestly FWD kinda sucks so i may have to just invest in a new vehicle.

im in NY too and down here in long island a shop that does all boosting and engine swaps mostly all hondas told me 600-800$$ and motor seperately and he quated me about 1000$ little less or over for a h22 motor. prelude and accords are like a civic and integra alot of parts are similar he told me all i need is the motor and ECU, my accord is already a 5spd though so it works even though he recommended a lsd tranny. this was long time ago so idk if im missing some parts out but im sure about the price. like he said how fast you want to go depends on how deep your pocket is. oh and he said if i bring the turbo with all the parts intercooler and all he said he will charge me extra 300 to put it on the h22 motor and he can hook me up with a performance shop for a tune and dyno to see how much i make lol.
