Hi
I was wondering if 6th gens had an option for a factory roof rack? On my 2000 its got the black bars running where a roof rack would be, not sure if thats for some other reason like diverting rain or something.
Also, I'm looking to get a roof rack to hold a couple bikes, you guys recommend Yakima or Thule?
Thanks for any help!

6th gens do not have a factory roof rack but the 7th gens do. As for which brand to use, I guess it really just comes down to which name brand you would rather have. I have a Yakima because I got it for dirt cheap. But to me they also look better. They do not seem to sit up as high as the Thule kits.

I have a Thule rack and it really does come down to personal opinion. The reason I went with Thule is because the bike shop that I worked at sold Thule, so I got an employee discount. Both Thule and Yakima are very high quality and I couldnt recommend one over the other.

I would look on the factory site to see what size crossbars you need. My Thule bars are the LB50 load bars (50 inches in length) and the Yakima sizes should be pretty similar, though bar length is really a personal preference deal as long as its wide enough for the car. Each company has a universal tower system and then different "fit kits" (at least, thats what Thule calls them) to mount to a specific car. Usually Accords use the medium sized fairing, and then once you get the stuff mounted, you can put pretty much anything on the rack itself (all the attachments are universal).

Tt is pretty easy if you go to the factory websites because I think you just input your vehicle and it tells you everything to order. But the only thing that is car specific are the clips that go inside the windows (for Yakima they are called Q-Clips). Everything else is a universal part. Then the only thing you have to get dealing with specific sizes would be the crossbars. I believe 48" is the proper size for accords and probably most cars for Yakima.

DAng beat me to it haha
