After a year with 15% tint it finally came to a end.
Here's the story, I was in a huge caravan with about 20 cars deep which caused traffic and made highway patrol angry and my tint gave them a good reason to let off some steam.
I was intentionally going to put my 15% back on after getting the ticket signed off.... but after a year of being paranoid and rolling down my windows in 40 degree weather and being scared to take a road trip to another state I've decided im just going to put a 70% crystalline film on in the future.

TBH I wouldn’t bother with 70%. The limit on front glass here is 50%, and even the difference between that and non-tinted glass is very negligible, especially in sunlight. As a result I went with 35%. Wish I'd have gone darker.

Are tint tixkets expensive? The dark tint on your car made it look so sleek. you could put it back on though it sounds like you're over worrying about it. Cops usually don't bother you about tint unless you're doing something else like speeding, etc. But then again I've heard Cali cops are nazis.

I saw youre here in SoCal also, you should put it back on, i also have 15% on mines and going on two years with it on in may, many cops dont give a rats *** about it, only if its the end of the month or theyre a-holes. Or if not i believe 35% is the state limit

Tint tickets are no longer "fix it" tickets here. Recently got one and when I tried to let the prosecutor know I removed them he said they are no longer fix it tickets in NJ. Spoke to a cop friend and he said tints muffler etc are no longer fix it tickets :boo: He said "think about it most of the times when we give those tickets it's because the person decided to go out of their way to make their car illegal so why give them the opportunity to correct it after they've been caught for it, Also think about how much the town is profiting from you dumbasses" smh

I always thought, here in Missouri, that the highway patrolmen were the only ones with a tester. Well, the other day, local PD caught me. He let me off but it kinda made me mad.

I purposefully went with 15 because it looks good and two different percentages is noticeable and just looks like ***. IDK how much a tint ticket is here or if it's a ticket or just a fix-it ticket. I don't wanna find out but I don't wanna have to redo my windows either. If it's cheap, I may just pay them until they add up. If it's costly, ill probably just deal with it and put 35% on the front.

I got a a tint ticket back in may of 2013 and the cop wasn't too bad he gave me until the end of the year to get it removed and paid for. Then 3 months after i got pulled over again for my tint and that cop was a douche. He told me basically that the other cop was being too lenient so he gave me 6 weeks to get it removed and paid for.
Which i did but then shortly after just paid like $60 to get the front 2 redone. I'm only at 20% by the way.

I'm curious what the tickets run. Mine just let me off. He didn't give me a time limit. I know the meters can be wrong or off somewhere between 3-5% so you could go 30% and technically be within the limit.

Like I said, if tickets run $50 or so and I only get a couple a year, I'll deal. I've had my tint for years and that's the first time I've been hassled for it. No way I'm gonna let this rinky-dink podunk town wear me down, lol.

In CA... if you take off the tint and get it signed off, the ticket cost will be $25 + fee to have it signed off. However, if you don't want to remove it and just pay the fine. It should be around $320. If your a repeat offender, you might not be able to get it signed off.

Legal tint in CA is 70% for the front side windows.. nothing on the windshield.. any % on the rear and back. You can get a doctor note to have lower tint for the front.
