Got my first speeding ticket.

This morning on my way to class. 60 in a 40. A mile down the road, the speed turned into 60. This sucks. My first speeding ticket ever. Frick.

It'll be alright. I don't know how it is in TX, but here you can fight it and if the cop doesn't show up (which happens often here) they drop the ticket.

damn that sux, but i agree that you should fight it. i've received two BS tickets, fought em both, once the cop didn't show up and the other time i won so my record is free

In MN, you see a prosecutor and they will discuss the ticket with you and offer to drop it if the story is reasonable and your record is fairly clear. Otherwise, if you don't agree with the prosecutor, you can take it to trial and argue with the officer.

I actually prob. wont fight it. Cops here are notorious for showing up. And since Im under 25, I have to take Defensive Driving anyway....

In New York (5 Boros/Long Island) the traffic courts wont go easy on you even if the officer doesnt show up. No matter what kind the moving violation speeding or cell phone w/e...if the judge didnt like you on first sight or for w/e reason your *** out. Well come to think of it long island usually try to reduce your violation and points but sheesh youll pay alot money from say 6 to 3 points , but no points is a good look on any driving record.
