I'm horse power there is a slight difference but in their torque they are about the same the h22a might be cheaper in the long run. All depends on how much money you wanna spend

The h22a has 187 hp and 152 TQ, while the h23a has 160 HP and 156 TQ... h23a might be cheaper tho

The a4. Better crank, and you don't have to convert to obdIIa. The wiring will much easier.

TQ cuz the crank is different, its a 95mm crank like those in the F22a/b's, and the H23's.

Youre talking about the h23a1, the usdm prelude si, and i think europe had a non vtec h23 also.

the "similar" h23 to the h22, has around 200hp i believe and more tq. its the blue top h23a dohc vtec. mostly the same specs as the h22, just has the larger stroke crank. also the blue top is obd2.

H22A has 50mm crank mains the A4 has 55mm mains. You can use the f23 crank in the A4 block to stroke the motor as well.

There pretty much the same. Only difference is compression and main sizes.

H22a: 10-5-1 compression and 50mm mains
H22a4: 10-1 compression and 55mm mains as long as you dont get a 97 block which still uses 50mm mains.
Both are rated at 200hp and 160tq at the crank.

I havn't really seen it proven where main sizes have really mattered.

The h23a dohc vtec is the same but totally different at the same time. The obd-2 on those blocks is more like are obd-1 so it doesn't really count.
They have the better heads on the 00/01 years.
They have 55mm mains and have there very own rod/piston combo.
