Ok well i have read everyone saying that ebay halo's suck. I love halos i think they look really nice and classy. Whats the deal with ebay halos sucking? Everything ive read says the light output sucks on most after market headlights. So i was just going to paint the housings of my lights.

Well my friend just got a pair of 180 dollar halos on ebay for his civic, i haven't seen there output at night but he acually said he thinks the quality is alot better than his oem lights were. Hes just using the bulbs that came with them. How about HIDs in the ebay halos wouldnt that be at least oem quality output? Seriously if you really just like the way halos look is there a good brand out there? Headlights arent something im interested in going nuts on and reto'ing or spending the kind money for projectors. Just want some real advice on halos i guess. I always liked them but was not going to buy them seeing so many nay sayers out there and bad threads about them. But after seeing how classy they looked on my friend civic then him telling me he thought the light output was acually better got me thinking twice about just black housing my lights.

these are the nicest highest priced one on ebay

Black housing is the way to go if you aren't going to retro man... I have retro's and I love the TSX projector output... My ex has some bs aftermarket projector K2s on her Jeep and the quality of the light output sucks major. Either blackhouse, retro, or just save your money bro. The ebay halos look cheesy and ppl will laugh at you when you're drivin by.

Honestly, some people really do like the halo ring effect...even on honda's.

The prelude ones aren't half bad.

But the MAIN purpose of headlights is to let you see down the road at night. THEN it's to look 'cool' haha

It's kinda like people with 20,000K HID's...if they really really want/like them they'll do it anyway. But it's going to be freaking terrible at night.

This is why people tell you not to.

But if you REALLY want to, you're going to get them anyway. Then just post pictures and call it a day

If you are really set on halos, look for TYC projectors. Id say their the "best quality" halos.

Please dont get the smoked headlights, its looks great but the light output is the worst even with HID's.

I had a set on my civic before i got my accord. The headlights came with H1 or H3 bulbs which I replaced with 6000K HID. Hell I could hardly see anything, thats how bad it was, please do not get those, atleast get the clear lenses, you can see better.

I had to put a set of fog lights so that I can see whats in front of me.

Heres what it looked like

If you are going to be doing a lot of city driving and no highway driving where theres lot of street lights go with these, if not I would strongly suggest against it. At the end of the day its still your choice. GL

Oh and getting them to align correctly is a *****

The price of a new OEM headlight is over $100 alone, for one. There is no way the quality of a $180 set of aftermarket headlights is better. If you've ever taken a set of aftermarket headlights apart, you know the tolerances, materials, and assembly are nowhere near as good as OE. The reason your friend thinks his aftermarket halo headlights are better quality than his OEM's, is because he doesn't know much about headlights. Sorry, not trying to be an ***, but that's the truth.

The reason halo headlights stink for our cars is that QA is so low on them. Honda gets a bad rep when it comes to aftermarket parts, that's why there are so many more terrible parts out there than good ones, especially for 6GA's. And Ebay is chock full of them. If you were to compare a BMW angel eye headlight next to an Ebay halo headlight...you would see what I mean. Ask Kurtage77 about his Ebay halo headlights, he liked them at first because halo's are cool and they are a novelty...but he got rid of them. Fact is, halo's are expensive to do right, and no one is going to spend the time or money to make a quality set for an 8 - 13 year old car.

BUT if you're set on getting some, having HID's in the projector will help a little. (The quality of the projector in one of these is nowhere near the quality of a TSX or similar. So you will get brighter, but not necessarily better output) What you see on Ebay is what you have to choose from. There are no great quality halo headlights for our cars.

The best quality aftermarket headlights you can buy for our cars are made by a guy named Rich on HIDIllusionz.com. I don't think he does halo's though, and I'm guessing they're more than you are willing to spend.

If I were you, I'd blackhouse your OEM headlights, install some DDM 6000k HID's, and call it a day. If you want some bling you could add some LED's to them. Don't mean to come across as a jerk, I just know from your other threads that you watch what you spend on your car, and I wouldn't want you to waste your money. But if you think these will make you happy, go for it.

be like it is
so many threads about them sucking and being cheap and having worse output than stock headlights and seeing how many people went back to stock and you STILL want to try them? :ugh:

buy some. you'll be back to stanleys in under a year. if people's displeasure and tales aren't enough to sway you, then your only recourse is to try them for yourself...cause youre not going to find many people advocating for them.

to qualify my statement without having used them: ive seen pics, ive seen them in real life, and most importantly, i have a set of "oem style" lights made in taiwan. side by side...on the car...the light produced by the stanleys is probably 1/3 better. so your lights are only 2/3 as good as they could be when using cheap ebay knockoffs.

HIDs make ebay lights even worse than the bulbs they come with.
