hi this is my first time getting a system on my car.. any ways i recently bought 2 12 in kicker l7s in a ported box, my question is what would be the minimum amount of power needed to push these subs at a decent volume?

update
i never got around to buying an amp
but this guy on craigslist wanted to trade his newer 15 l7 and his hifonics bxi 1610d amp

Re: help choosing amp?

really 2 L7 with only 600watts? I would think they would take more. On the kicker website it says each is 750watt RMS.

Re: help choosing amp?

their RMS is a general thermal guideline. depending on box, you could probably use as little as 200 each...

600w rockford is a pretty good amp. its better than the 1000w cheap ones.

Re: help choosing amp?

big box lowers power handling

ported box lowers power handling

sooo...you could use a decently-sized amp at the minimum. if they were shoved into a small sealed box, you'd want more power.

i see they're dual coils. dual 2s or 4s?

we need to have a talk about that wiring :crazyrun:

AQ1200D is perfect if your on a budget and is a great amp. Just gotta upgrade your electrical and ... like ryan said ... your wiring lol.
