I make the same post on V6P.net, just want to get maximum feedback as quickly as possible.
It all happens when I crank up the engine. It took an unusually long time to crank and the car was sounding sick. I was like "ok, this has happened before, it will mend itself" So as I start getting out of parking lot, I notice very very rough and slow shifting in the 2nd gear. And then I kept on driving hoping the tranny will sort it out...but no, the 3rd and 4th gears are rough too, downshifting from 2nd to 1st was very abrupt. Something is defnitely wrong with the tranny, this is my 3rd tranny and I am totally out of warranty (98 Accord V6 with 137k). It was replaced when the car had 86k on it so the 3rd tranny lasts about 50k miles.
What are my remedies now? I don't want to spend $$ on fixing this car since it's not worth much now. Do you think Honda will replace for free again? Do you think it might be the torque converter that went wrong? I am tempted to call honda for a replacement but I am expecting them to play tough this time since the car is out of warranty. What's my best strategy to approach this? Last week I was talking to my father about how I plan to keep driving this car for another 5 years. Awww...
