Alright so ever since I got my car, my hood has had water spots deep in the paint. Also, just last winter, I big rust spot appeared due to the metal in the wheel well be ******ed. I was hoping someone on here could tell how to go about fixing this stuff. Thanks!

that spot "appeared" ? looks like its had to have been there a while, since it's not a removable panel i would first knock any rust loose you can and then cover visible rust with ospho to stop more damage.
then since that's a weird spot im wondering if it'd be best to roll the fenders in and then sand down the lip and inner part of wheel well panel and ospho bare metal again then, bondo only if needed, primer and paint with rattle can match of your color, but only the very edge so you're not doing much of the outside of the quarter panel. wait for others to chime in as im not sure if that's the best way.

As for the hard water spots, you should either be able to buff them out or wetsand them out, iv'e heard acid can remove them but im not certain about the procedure.

Btw, could someone give me a rough estimate as to how much the rust would cost to fix? (i.e. cut new metal and weld it in). Close to $1k?

My body guy quoted me $600 to cut out any rust, weld in new metal, grind down, prime and paint the whole quarter panel.

Damn I really hope that's the price (or around the price) I get quoted! My grandfather used to work in the auto body industry for a long time and he told me it was a $900+ job. He said that like the rear seats need to be taken out and find the rust from the inside and to make sure that when they're welding nothing catches on fire. I just need a better job before I considering spending that much.

^So are the roads.

That's the only way I would trust to fix it.

Me too, rolling a rusted out fender only results in worse problems. Not that I have any experience with that. :lawl:

Well it may be more, this guy does work for me on the side and cuts me a break so to speak. He explained to me once how the layers Honda used in these fender supports were not done correctly, and that they used the wrong substrate which trapped and stored moisture, resulting in the rust you see like this.

I hear you though, I haven’t completely fixed mine just because I don’t want to put the money in the car.
