well if i get the i4 i will be boosting it. because there just too slow imo. should i get the dx or lx (one has 130hp and the other 150 i think). im just looking to get around 200-220 to the wheels on stock internals. the thing is is that i could easly do that with the v6 just buy n/a and tuning. before this even happens i still need to sell my saturn

I have an LX w/ the F23 w/ a 4spd auto, and I currently have 160000 miles on the stock trans, so there are no probs ther, just make sure you keep up with the maintenance, because I had also heard about Accords and their tranny's failing, v6 or 4cyl...but mine has held up....keep us posted:thumbsup:welcome to 6GA

Welcome sir. If you get a V6, plan on swapping the tranny - I would recommend getting 6MT setup like some of us here. If you're not up for that, then get an I4 - it's what I have and I love it.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

i had an i4 auto first, the tranny was starting to go on that so i got rid of it. i currently have a i4 manual and i have no complaints at all, and i would suggest the manual because it will last longer.

I have the F23 with the 5 speed. 144xxx miles. Some of the syncros aren't that great anymore, but I'm not complaining, it still runs strong. I'd get the i4 MT for sure.

Honestly it's just real hit-or-miss on the V6's. There are plenty of owners who have 100k-150k on their car and have no V6 tranny issues. Such as mine. I have 101k and zero slippage. So I'm a lucky one I guess.

If you want a super-reliable car, just be satisfied with the i4 5spd, do all regular maintenance, just look after it, and it will be generally bullet-proof for ya. lol.

If you find a hell of a deal on a V6, test drive it. If the tranny feels crisp and no slipping in any of the gears (including when it's cold) then I would say you are pretty safe getting it. The reason I say this is because it seems to that if the V6 has a crappy tranny, chances are they have already gone by at least 100k or not long after that. If you've gone beyond that threshold and the car still feels great, I think you have a good chance of having the tranny last a good while. At least til you get together some funds for the 6spd swap later on :lawl:

But yeah, if you're worried in the least, get the 5spd and have fun. :) If you are serious about boosting it, please don't cheap out. Do it once, do it right, use high-quality parts, and you'll be way better off in the long run.
