I heard that we are all illegal for having HID in our factory housings... Is this a true statement? Also is the blackhousing illegal as well? I'll just tell the inspector that it says DOT on the lense so it must be legit. LOL

^Yes, HID's in our stock headlights is illegal. I'm almost sure blackhousing won't pass for inspection either.

blackhousings will pass inspection as long as they have an amber or white reflex reflector under the turn signal in the headlights. thats why mine wont pass, because i took out the entire amber strip. if i wouldve left in the corner, which i didnt, i wouldnt have changed out my headlights cuz they wouldve been legal. i didnt keep mine cuz thats simply not the look i wanted, haha. and once i can buy a new set of oem's, im painting those strips black, haha, so ill still have to swap them out.

That's waht I was thinking also.
If you have other illegal stuff (tint, exhaust etc) there would be no need in adjusting headlights alone.

I know a couple of inspection stations that can pass me as long as my CEL is not on
I'll pay $60 anytime over putting my car back to stock for inspection.
Technically, the emissions would be fine, just the appearance would be a problem

Sweet... Sketch you're the man... No changing headlights for me. Just HID's in january. Maybe I'll have my retro's by then. Progress is super slowwwww right now... Like non-existent slow.
I have an inspect guy for my tint already.

I left in my corner amber strip and would of course put other bulbs back in when inspection time came and hopefully they won't notice the blackhousing.

they wont care about the blackhousing. as long as you have that reflector in there, and you do, youll be fine. there is nothing illegal about blackhousings as long as they have that reflector in them.
