Ive recently finished my retrofit of my headlights, and I discovered that my HIDs, from Xenon Depot, has a plug that does not fit my stock harness. My first thought is to hardwire the system in by removing the plug. Anyone else encountered this problem?

They should have a ballast that the bulb plugs into which in turn accepts your stock plug for power.

Thanks for getting back quick! The only question I have left would be do I just cut the current plug that comes off the ballast and put this one on instead? Sorry for my noobish questions, I'm new to HIDs

Think of a ballast as a laptop charger. You have 1 side that plugs into the wall and goes to the little power brick. then the other side of the power brick plugs into your laptop.

A ballast is the power brick. it plugs into the wall (your cars factory clips) and the wires coming from it plugs into your laptop (your HID bulbs)

The brick is an external igniter unlike normal hid ballast wear it has it internally.

What ballasts do you have? Do you have ballasts? HIDs use AC energy and the ballast is what takes the 12v DC and converts is to AC. Now, your bulbs have plug ins like this, the two connectors (circular) in the center, correct?

Now these will plug into a ballast. There are standard and slim line ballasts.

Standard:

I will refer to the slimline picture because the connector you are looking for is red and sticks out. The red connector will plug into the standard 9006 headlight connector on the car without modification. On my standard ballasts, IIRC, they needed an extension because the honda connector just would not clip on right. Now referring back to the first picture, you will see I talked about the connectors in the center and not the outer. Those outer are actually an extension like the one in this link that are appended to the bulb and they are quite common to be with the bulbs. If you have and need them, cut the rubber appending them to the bulbs and use them! Depending on clearances, you may not even need to cut the rubber but see what ya got. Otherwise, here.

Need ballasts?

I have HID Today standard ballasts on my car and am happy with them. I don't know their origin because they came with the car. That said, I have used Kensun slimline ballasts with success on other cars.

This post assumes you're bulbs are 35w. If you have 55w, you may need a different ballast.
