DOOOD!!! i hate to say it but good luck getting a job in im ur major field... my advice... explore... the buisness major field is so large and in every school has at least 200 students from teh same area applying for the same job (not counting students from other schools) so thats more than 3-4k students applying all for the same jobs... people now days dont take peopple straight out of college with that degree... u have to have at least 5 years experience or a masters with at least a year or so experience all that management, like a network analyst, network administer, network etc, those jobs you need experience... that means NO NOOBS!! (not saying that u are one but in the businesses eyes.. you are one)

and if u want those computer based jobs... engineering majors get first dibs on those

my homegirl has a management degree... cant find a job after a whole year of looking... shes forced to work at retail stores with a management degree...

me, i got into business at first but couldnt do anything that i liked so i got into film... classes of 16 are a whole lot better than classes of 160 or more

MY ADVICE TO YOU... explore your options... use one of your extracirrucular activities to look for another job and sell ur self for those extra activities... make them look good... maybe advertisement or somethng else... dont look for business jobs... ur not gonna find nething right out of college unless u have an internship str8 into a job

best advice i've heard from business majors is to get your masters or get an internship that will help you get your masters, it puts your miles above many others and gets you a higher salary

i'm a history major who will be teaching in a year or so my money will be dependent on where i want to teach

i'm a graphic design major, from my friend's, classmates, and advisors, internships and low paying but high experience jobs are the best ways to start.
-know ur worth, u can do unpaid internship but it's hard, short term - paid, get the experience and demonstrate ur passion
-build a rapport w/ students, dept, instructors so u can get referrals, advice, jobs
-if it's a job, don't be surprised if u're the gofer, friend graduated w/ bus. finance, she couldn't hang, step'd back and helping family business instead
-what can set u apart from the many that apply?

i got my internship when i was in school by knowing the CFO of a local company...sometimes you just gotta know people...so ask around...maybe your friends have contacts...and look at people you are in school with that already have internships....ask them what to do...

If you work in the insurance industry a masters is a waste of time and money.

I got a BBA with a focus on Insurance and Risk Management. My senior year I found the job I am in now. I knew I wanted to do insurance claims. I am working for a Commercial Property/Casualty/Workers Comp insurance company as a "Claims Manager Trainee." Technically now i am an adjuster. I was hired to eventually take over the claims department and become the claims manager. I have already gotten more than $10k in raises in 3 years and I am up for another raise now. I love this job.
I interviewed for the job in the spring before I graduated. I was offered the position after my follow up interview and I accepted it. I had the option on when I would start, so i chose to take 2 weeks off after I graduated and I started working on June 1, 2005.

The insurance industry is full of old geezers who are retiring. Insurance executives are beginning to hire more and more people out of college. The insurance indusrty will always be around. Whether you get into accounting, claims, sales, marketing, etc.. there really is something for everyone. Many people think insurance is: a salesman who hides in the bushes waiting for you to come home and harrasses you to buy insurance. That is no longer the case. The insurance industry is probably the wealthiest industry on the planet. Soon enough college graduates will realize what they are missing out on. But please, don't go work for Progressive - they make their employees lives hell.

College is overrated.....my opinion.

That can be true with the wrong major. My college had a General Studies degree. You could do everything or nothing with that degree.

I interned at a place and had a job lined up there when I graduated (engineering).

whole foods and similar grocery stores are tempting jobs. i worked at a grocery store and got paid $20/hr. they try to have a "living wage" and if u don't motivate urself, time flys by, i heard horror stories. ask some of those old timers. I left to finish school, got about 3 semesters.
