Well maybe not what you want to hear, but I had 3 job offers by late November of last year, just graduated this May. It all started with getting an internship through my sister-in-law at the company I now work at full-time.

The internship looked really good to the other companies I went to, and I dominated in the interviews I guess. I just ended up choosing the one that was closest to home and most familiar. Oh yeah, and best paying. :henry:

BTW, my major is Interdisciplinary Engineering & Management. (half engineering, half business degree)

My GPA was only a 2.6 but the experience I gained from the internship (3 summers actually) is what helped me. And that was all about who I knew. You usually have to have a 3.0 GPA to intern at this company, but they made an "exception" :hide:

Good Luck in your search man.

Yeah, for sure. I'm hopping i can actually set up an internship at my school since i am both a student, i have been a long time employee. I'll take unpaid if i can work something out.

I'm not trying to find a job that is going to be perfect for what i want to do, just something that shows my head is in that field. I know accouple of things i can do very easily that i don't want to but should be easy enough.

Sometimes it IS all about who you know........................

Yeah, that's why i'm hoping i can basically "create" my internship at school. I hope the fact i'm a student and an employee will convince somebody that i'm worthwhile. I don't even care if i get paid if i can work out an internship like that. Otherwise, i'll probably get a ****ty IT job for a company who has like 10 computers.

Yeah it realyl does have a lot to do with your personality and who you know. I think I was the fist in my family to graduate from college (aside from my sister, who graduated suma cum laude with a double math and history major - yeah she is a stay-at-home mom) so I had to make my own connections and meet people on my own. I just so happened to get an internship working for a guy whose wife works for the company I work for now. I met the CEO of the company I work for now back when I did my internship. I went to Ole Miss, and the CEO is an alumnus of Ole Miss. He is pretty dedicated to hiring people that went to Ole Miss if at all possible. So that helped out a lot.
Also a word of advice: when it comes to GPA, do not worry too much about it. I had a 3.33 out of college, but I don't think it really mattered all that much. If you are going into a field that you have to communicate with people often, many employers actually frown upon people with 4.0 GPA's because they fear they will have no "people skills" - many times they are correct.
