i4 vs v6 speed

I4 would win 1/4 mile in my opinion. would take a huge lead down the track but the v6 will chase it down. the v6 tranny blows, no suprise we all know this, but i give it credit for its 3rd gear. 1) no torque 2) mostly in vtec so it picks up, 3) monsterish) 4) "the slug" you can be in 4th on the highway doing 90, and drop it into D3 and the car easily pushes up to 120+ like its nothing.

Start:
i4 pulls off line pulling out to a 2 car lead
1/2 way down, i4 ahead by 4
3/4 way down, v6 starts to gain, chasing down a 5 car lead
finish, i4 wins by 1 maybe 2 cars

My sister has a v6 and I have an i4 5spd. We raced once, granted shes not much of a racer, but I pulled on her. Also I have driven her car, and noticed that it picks up much slower in first and second than I do. Just my experiences.

i assume the first one is a 5spd with that kind of time.

but the three tests were probably run by three different organizations, with different test conditions, so not a very good comparison.

at the very least it says the I4 can at least keep it close up to a 1/4 mile :)

3rd on the 5speed is way too long, though. takes about 10 full seconds to get through it :(

found a vid i had:

starting for a dig:
60mph -> ~7sec
80mph -> ~11sec
100mph -> ~21sec !!!!! :(


you can see how long it takes to get through 3rd :( (and i hit the rev limiter, oops)

and where's all the v6's in our 0-60 thread?

i'm just about stock (ebay intake) and can get to 60 in around 7.2s

hopefully that'll go down a tiny bit when i get my suspension put on and can get rid of some of my wheel hop.

others in the thread have shown that bolt ons will get the I4 sub 7.0

and clutch/flywheel/I/H/E + good driver can get near 6.0

True..but I don't think the v6 would gain that much at the end of the track..

its slow because of the start in auto ,but if u rev it like its a manual ..go to neutral and rev ..then down to the D.. it will kill the i4 5 spd
