IDE hard drive in car. Need some feedback.

Buy an internal hard drive enclosure that turns your internal hard drive into an external (USB). I got mine from best buy. Format it. Put music on it. Buy a power converter so you can plug it into your outlet. Pretty sure the headunit would just treat it as a giant flash drive.

Actually this is possible... like cir said by an eclosure... if you really wanted to you can buy a 160gb 2.5 in laptop hard drive already in an enclosure from walmart that uses the USB to power... i am sure the HU would use it just like a flash drive as long as it is formatted in FAT...

better hope that HU is capable of reading FAT32 because if its FAT16 your 120gig drive is to big.

im sure it can read more than just fat16, if not, the max volume space is 2GB..
