different states vary different laws

some it is illegal caz its a safety issue

some its not because it doesnt alter your line of vision

Anyone know if NY/NJ it is illegal or not..

(next season at car shows id rather leave the hood home rather then take it off down there and bring an extra suv to put it in.)

On my way down to Honda day I was driving next to a civic that took his hood off and put it on his roof rack when he got to e town.

Don't know. If you get pulled over it will be your first time, and just ask what the law is regarding it. Then you'll know. Prob wont get a ticket first time anyway. Just a warning, then you'll know for sure.

That's like saying if I stab someone, and I didn't know the law upon stabbing someone, then I should get a warning and now I won't do it again because I know for sure.

Thats different....obviouslyyyy lol

My point, is when it comes to car stuff like that, NOT MURDER (didnt think I needed that clarification), cops will let you off. Stabbing someone is obviously something people know cut and dry. If there were a law regarding this type of incident, it is not widely known because it does not pertain to everyone. Not every driver is driving with their hood off. Killing/harming people is clear-cut. It's something that if you get pulled over for, you're not getting put in handcuffs, and laying face down on your hood.

I understand what you mean though, how it could come off that way, but it's a similar scenario as people get illegal tinting, and the worst they do is tell you get it removed. They'd probably ask you why it is off, and to put it back on if it were a problem.

Just like they can ticket you for tints under their own discretion they can ticket you for the hood but most cops like I said will over look it but can ticket you

Also if they're thinking how am thinking they're probably saying, "hey if you want all the road debris in you engine go ahead but the sole purpose of the hood is the cover/protect engine

but then again i've done it myself lol

Not in California, buddy. Cops will ticket you for the stupidest of things. Especially a hood. I guess it all depends on your area but when it comes to car violations, California has no mercy.

On some legal document somewhere it says "Ignorance is not an excuse."
