I dont have a snorkel. I just cut the inlet whole bigger, and dropped a kn filter in there. The air right under the stock air box is cooler than the engne bay, so I dont see the purpose of a snorkel excpet making the air travel through more piping, cause the air comes from the bottom of the box and sucks up air from the empty space where the resonator was, so the air box design by default serves as a heatshield from the engne bay.
Also the air box design in itself is to enhance low end torque. Thats why we have it stock, car manufacturers engineer engines to perform well in the low end range for easy normal daily driving and commuting.
The air box design holds in accesible air in the box, while an open filter takes more effort to suck it in. Also by removing the resonator, cutting the tiny inlet whole bigger, and putting in a better flowing filter, I get the best comprimise of low end and high end.
