hey i have a 2001 accord 4 cyl. and in has a knocking sound. its always there but some days its louder than usual, there is no really pattern to wen its louder. its a consistent sound and it speeds up as i rev up. it is coming from the front of the engine. i suspected the water pump went bad, but i kept an eye on the coolant and it seems unchanged and there car doesn't over heat.

any help would be appreciated

thanks.

Valves are more of a ticking noise. Check your motor mounts perhaps. And an audio clip would be more helpful.

cool. i'll try to get a video/audio clip the next time its loud. if its just a valve adjustment would it damage anything within the engine if gone untreated?

also how would i go about checking my mounts?

If its just a valve adjustment needed then its actually quite easy to do. There is actually a DIY for it on this site. Not sure if it will actually damage anything though. (Probably could in the long run, but don't quote me on that)

As for the motor mounts, just look at them and make sure they aren't corroded or broken.
