I was looking on the Koni website and stumbled across the warranty section and it says they have a LIFETIME WARRANTY :147703263745b138a51 But it says it does not apply to, "On any vehicle that has been modified for a use other than or in addition to its originally intended use". I' m a TOTAL NOOB and was wondering if I lower the car on Koni springs, will it void the warranty?

Thanks.

To me that reads like it’s okay to modify the car, but not the use of the car. Meaning it’s okay to modify the car on their suspension as long as (in your case) the car is being driven on a normal road in a normal or spirited manner. Meaning modifying the car to drive it offroad or something else would be seen as not using a car for its intended use, since it’s a car and not a truck. Sounds to me like the modification is not the focus, but the use of the car is.

Why not call Koni and ask?

This is interesting. Im interested to see what Koni has to say. I would think you get the lifetime warranty as long as you don't modify the Koni's for an application they are not intended to be used for. Koni's are meant to lower your vehicle a little since they have two perch options so I doubt that would void the warranty. I could see if you got them redone to handle over 10k spring rate each as a issue with warranty.

When you say "a little", would a 2.5 inch drop be too much? And is there a height that would be too low that would void the warranty?

Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I think they mean you cannot lower the car too low. The shock is meant for certain hight, and by "slamming" the car it'll cause premature damage to the shock

^Yeah you want to be careful if slamming on Koni's.

I don't see why a 2.5 inch drop would be any problems. the difference in perch height alone from top to bottom is an inch. So even if you used stock springs with Koni's you could go an inch lower. Koni's are made to support a wide variety of setups so i would think you would even be ok with a 3-4 inch drop. But like RR said you would still need to call for the "fine print" so to speak on whats considered ok. As long as you use them for their intended purpose you should be fine.

Kamozee has talked to Koni about lowering on their struts, and they told him any spring stiffer than 650 lbs you need to revalve. So Koni knows people are lowering on their shocks, most people that buy them probably are. I really don’t think it would void the warranty but this is all hearsay until you call and ask them. We can tell you our opinions all day.

Ya, I think I'll call them later this week and see what they say. But let's say that one of my Koni struts does blow while my car was lowered but not because it was too low, will Koni replace the whole strut or just rebuilt it?

I just contacted Koni about pairing the STR.T with the Ksport GT springs through a comment until I saw the number at the bottom of the page. I'll call them this week since there probably not open today or tomorrow.
