I used an air compressor and by hand using the spring compressor tool from GhettoZone. By hand was maybe an extra few minutes.

My stock parts were 8 years old when they came off. No rust or anything. Rubber still in excellent condition.

Unless you really wanna shell out the extra dough for parts you already have...

so you can compress a spring in 5 minutes? I'm saying I'd rather get a brand new, non-rusty part and new rubber to go in as well as not having to deal with compressing the springs by hand... I don't have an air compressor, which is ****ty.

Air tools...30 secs, by hand..maybe a minute/two tops

By hand, it takes me about 5-7 min, taking my time. By the 4th spring i'm tired and it doesn't take more than that. I don't think getting new top hats is a bad idea, i just don't think it's worth it unless you want to swap back and forth, which isn't worth it lol.

You can also use an electric impact wrench like a DeWalt DW292. Not cheap, but it will last a long time. And it makes compressing and releasing a suspension spring easy.
