Ok, so I was getting in my car earlier tonight and I turn on my headlights...wtf my driver side light doesn't come on. After turning it on and off a couple of times, it finally comes on. The problem is that it doesn't seem to be on 100%...don't know if that makes any sense.

My passenger side light is nice and bright but my driver side is weak sauce..as if it's not fully on....err dim HID? Is this a sign of a bulb going bad? Or a bad ballast? I didn't have time to switch my bulbs to test it but I will later.

I have my own harness... this happens to me once in a blue moon and I have no idea why. My bulbs are about 18 months old now and I want to say it's the age and not being able to ignite that initial arc.

EDIT: Once I get the bulb to arc, it goes fully bright. Never had any dimming issues.

hrmm so wiring harness. anyone recommend one?

i got mine a long time ago, forgot where from. but i know ddm tuning sells one....unless you want to make one yourself. ive seen a couple diy's on how to make one....i dont have any links tho, sorry. maybe google would have something. also, might just wanna try switching the bulb, that lights immediately, over to the side thats bad, just to see if its just your bulb. but the symptoms youve explained can be had by also not having the upgraded harness as well.

Making a harness is very basic... if you understand how a relay works you can make one, but it's cheaper just to buy the DDM one, which is extremely good quality for the price.

The factory wiring harness looks like it's only 22AWG... a 55W halogen draws about 4.4A, which is already pushing the limits of the wire. An HID ballast draws about 7.6A at ignition and levels off to about 3.5A to keep the arc going.
