Im still a beginner photographer and just got into it so take it easy :skurred:

Critiques are still welcome though!

I still cant figure out why the first and the third one came out so blurry :ugh:

EDIT:

Took some advice from Ryan and gave it one more try. I messed with the arpeture and shutter speed a lot more and I believe it came out a lot better :)

2 reasons...

missed focus
or
long exposures cause blur even with a tripod. unless youre using a remote, mirror lockup, a timer, or any two of those listed, youll get blur.

at a focal length of 55mm with a fairly short distance to your subject, you would only need around f/4-5.6 to have the whole car in focus. this would allow both lower iso's and faster shutter speeds. (edit: if you look at my sig pic, i was about 90ft from my car, f/5.6, i want to say around 160mm focal length. notice how lots of the background are still in focus, even though im far away? if i could have, i would have even used f/2.8)

oh and f/16 and above causes diffraction. most lenses (especially cheap ones) sweet spots are in the f/8-11 range. i dont believe ive ever used above f/11 even for landscapes.

could you possibly be able to tell me what my shutter speed and arpeture should have been then? i mean, not exactly but around?

well...without getting too involved in technicalities...since meter readings are somewhat off below 1s shutter speed...

ill use the 3rd pic, which is f/22 10s iso1600 flash(?)

so first off, im going to open the aperture to f/5.6
next, ill lower the iso to 400,
but since i dont know how dark it was, ill use a light value of 9 giving us 1/60s shutter. or maybe opened one stop more to 1/30s...

check out the exposure calculator here. as i said in the beginning...anything slower than 1s plays havoc on the camera's meter so we really cant use "regular" math having started at f/22...

how do you make the black border? lol I've skimmed through cs3 looking for something but couldn't find a "add border" feature.
