Plane took off from Laguardia (or JFK not sure which one) airport in New York.
6 minutes later it flew into a flock of birds which disabled the engines and caused them to catch fire.
Plane was only a few miles from Teterboro airport (NJ) which was in sight but the pilot wasnt sure if he could make it. So he landed it in the Hudson.
If he tried to make it to teterboro and failed, there would surely be casualities

it was LAG... JFK doesnt face the hudson so they dont have planes going over that part.... but im suprised it took them a while to get the plane out.

Cant wait till they make a movie out of it... lol.. they are definately gonna exploit the whole "Miracle in Hudson" sphiel
