car 01-02? those go into limp mode with a CEL. and will stay in until the problem is fixed and the ECU is reset

That's so stupid. Does that happen with any CEL code you get? Now I'm happy mine's a 2000.

well double check that vtec selanoid 2 of my friend had the same problem with our cars and his prelude no go at 4k thats when the vtec kicks in ,he had to replace the vtec selanoid and it was great after

Well? Any CEL's now? 4,000 rpm isn't a magic number for a clogged cat, but it will feel like it just runs out of power to rev any higher. The key charicteristic of a clogged cat is tons of sound and fury with no power

If it's an ECU issue (ie. limp mode, VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure sensor, emissions problem) then the ECU will set a rev limiter at 4,000 rpm.
