Very nice pick up. I really like the interface on the 505 cause it's easy to navigate and probably one of the most ipod friendly units I've seen.

How's the output? I've been in the market for a D3, but this looks to be quite competitive.

It's hard for me to compare the video quality because I haven't seen most manufacturer's newest models in person. I would say it looks damn good though. Nice and bright with it's LED display. Very easy and intuitive menu configuration. Sound quality is superb, once upgraded to 4v pre outs with the Imprint. I though I would have a problem with ease of use adjusting volume and subwoofer coming from a 9887 with a knob...nope! I'd say it could be easier. Just takes your eyes off the road for a second lol.

really i cant find any imprint cheap here.

Search ebay my friend! Make sure you get the cheaper one specifically for the 9887. I've seen used ones go for dirt cheap!

I know egg has one so I won't talk ****. There is 2 big reasons I didn't get a Kenwood. 1) The entire interface is like a big cartoon...and annoys me. It looks like it's a kid's game. 2) My installer said he used to have A LOT of guys bringing them in for repairs. This is the main reason he doesn't carry Kenwood anymore. He isn't sure on the newer units, but from my experience...I trusted his recommendations to go with Alpine.

I think the W505 is pure sex too. The 9120 is nice too but... :rwerd:

i had the 8120 before the 9140...the interface was decent but could've been better...the eq features were AWESOME..same with the nav and ipod control. i wanted to pick up the alpine so i can go active, but i got the 9140 for a steal so couldn't pass it up. from what i can tell, the interface looks better, is alot faster/smoother. i'll post pics and a review soon.

Cool beans. Yeah having the ability to go active was a big deal for me. I miss the EQ button on my 9887 though. This enabled me to switch from the Imprint on/off for sq or all out with bass. It does have a "soft button" though so perhaps I am missing something. I have to re-read my 95 page manual. :eusa_doh:
