Suspension is a great place to start. Browse the for sale threads and you will be surprised how far you can stretch that budget. Members ride threads are a great source of inspiration. Good luck.

One would be hard pressed to do suspension and a wheel setup correctly for $1500. Anyway the best way to make your car more fun is to give it a nice suspension setup and a thicker rear sway bar. That alone will make driving it more fun, and make it look better. Don't get wheels until you have the suspension sorted, the size of the rim/tire depends on the suspension. Or save around twice what you have now and swap the trans to manual.
