Greetings everyone, My name is Jake and I live in central Wisconsin. I have Had my 98 Honda accord sedan now for about a year. I purchased it from my mother a last year who was the original owner. To be honest I really didn't want it. I searched hi and low for a different vehicle and almost bought a murano. However the little voice in the back of my head kept saying its a Honda it will last forever and get great fuel mileage. So using my head I went with the Honda, even tho every fiber of my being wanted something different. I have previously owned 2 ford lightnings, a Mitsubishi evo, and even drove a 2005 dodge viper for a summer. I had a blast with them enjoyed auto x events and even a few lapping days. However with age comes wisdom, I knew I couldn't afford nicer cars and be able to move forward financially so I bought a house and my moms accord. With the previous cars I owned I was very familiar with internet forums, I never looked into an accord forum because to tell you the truth i never had much interest in it, just considered it a car that I settled with and i was going to drive it till it blows. Now with that being said, my 98 accord with 80k on it, is now in the shop getting spine surgery. It started leaking transmission fluid so i took it in thinking it was most likely the axle seals. I do work on my cars most of the time but seeing as it is 0 degrees here in Wisconsin I took it somewhere. Much to my disbelief my carriage bearings went out in my tranny and trashed all the internals. Just got the call a few days ago and the bill will come to $3100. Now that I am being forced into sticking so much money into this car I have decided to no longer just look at my grandma car with disgust but to make it my own. I started browsing around the web and boom got linked over to this website. Once I was here I kicked myself for not looking into this earlier. A lot of the members here have transformed there cars into very good looking cars. And I now wish to join. Currently I have a bone stock accord with a thule roof rack on it with a bike and snowboard attachment, im looking into a basket for it, I just keep running into large SUV baskets. Can anyone recommend a good roof basket for me? Also I would like to ditch my tan cloth interior and go with a tan leather interior. Other then searching a junk yard and ebay ive come up with a dead end. Can anyone recommend a aftermarket seat cover kit for these cars that fits well?

Future plans for the car now that i have decided to keep it would be,
pioneer double din with nav
roof basket
lowering kit
new wheels/ tires
headings with Hid
and i am really liking the lip kits available for these cars
not to mention all the other goodies ill find here on the forum that i never knew existed!

Welcome. This is a great forum but just try to always search for answers before asking questions that have been answered hundreds of times lol

Sucks that ur tranny went out and only have 80k but it happens, for as much as ur spending maybe look into doing a MT swap :)

Look thru the members ride threads to get ideas for ur car and make it ur own

Welcome to the site, sorry about the tranny. For $3100 I would definitely swap to manual if you are a 4cyl, it would be about half that. If you're V6 it would be roughly a few hundred more depending.

Yeah im not very happy with the price. Took the car in and he told me between 1400-2650max, i was toild since the car only had 80k that that it would be closer to 1800. however I received a call on friday saying that he quoted me 2850 (which he didnt) and that there would be an added 100 for tranny fluid, then 40 shop fee then tax. I figured on the tax but not the fluid price (which in my opinion a tranny shop should include in an estimate) hop fee (wtf is that) and the hike in my estimate (can they do that?). But there already ripped the thing out and started rebuilding it, so it is what it is i guess. Yes it is a 2.3 auto transmission. I would of had it swapped but it is my daily driver that takes me 65 miles a day round trip so i needed her back asap.
