i love how the cops are going after kids who are taking it off public roads and into warehouses.... give them a legal place to race for free and watch how many show up, make them pay and watch them all leave

Who is going to manage this free legal race strip? Taking it off public road and into warehouses is the reason these people got arrested. It's trespassing. Imagine if you had property people were trespassing on. Now, if you invite them that is different. We got a local shop in Miami that gives legal rights every Thursday night in its parking lot plaza for car meets. Cops try to break it up but the owners tell them it's their customers.

I can see how street racing in general can lead to accidents/death but are you all really against straight races in a huge lot?
Any unsanctioned racing is garbage. It's just a bunch of douches trying to outdo each other. You want to race, want to learn to drive, learn to race...take it to a sanctioned race track. You'll see cars a lot faster than those in these vids and it is so much more fun without the fear of getting in trouble or killed.

all i have to say is :eekwtf:
These people who belong to illegal street racing clubs should just get together their monies and buy a flat of land and have it paved or just buy a big parking lot. Then theres nothing the cops can do. Am I right? or i might be wrong too i dont know.

Racing in someone's lot isn't cool at all. I guess it's better than public roads but you still have no right to do it. Still illegal without permission.

There are still alot of consequences of racing on property that isn't made for racing. You don't have tech inspections, you don't have any safely rules at all really, you don't have onsite medical, etc. So it's not exactly a "safe" alternative, even if it was legal.

I see no issue, it may seem overkill on the cops side but look how organized they are. You can't stop something organized by making some weak attempt to stop it.

As for free tracks that somebody mentioned, why is it the government's responsibility to let you race your car for free? I know of no law that you have the right to race for free. Obviously as a car person, i wouldn't mind paying some taxes to race free as it would be a small amount but the other 99.999% who would be paying for it wouldn't be so happy about the idea. If you think it's the way to go, try to get it on a local ballot or something, see what happens lol.

as opposed to the money they're paying their city in taxes for aerial survellance, overtime for officers on those night, especially on the bust night, the fact that cops are being taken off regular duty to address this other issue, i'm sure Kent police department is either stretching pennies or man power somewhere, thats bound to upset the population if it gets out. I'm talking about opening up the local strip one night for free for kids to race. Have cops come out and race kids, they've done it in California before, with record turn-outs each and every time. if you look at the full picture its not exactly a bad idea, keep the regular cops doing their regular jobs and strike a deal with the local drag strip in the form of a tax break.

still such a bad idea matt?

There is a BIG difference from having an anti street racing deal at a local track every week than having a free track all the time.

From what i know around here, it's still not free alot of places, it's just really cheap. The tracks arn't expensive though.

However, in reality, it doesn't stop street racing. People want that thrill, that life style, etc. So even in those communities, it's still not a "solution".

Anyway, in that perspective, yes, it's a great idea. I didn't know that was what you were getting at in your post.

i'm trying to offer positive solutions to the problem, granted you can't stop everybody from doing stupid and illegal things but you can create a safe place for most the people.

thats what i'm getting at
