hey all,

i am planning on getting some f&f type II coilovers for my 01 Av6 to dump it.

my question to you guys:

I live in Kansas and we have had rough winters in the past. I was wondering if anyone has had coilovers and rode with them throughout the winters? i was thinking i could just raise them back to stock height and be good?? also will there be any damage done to them b/c of all the salt and crap they put on the roads?

Thanks,

AK

those are great coilovers they will last threw winters with no problem even with salt and what not they would take a long time to damage/ start wearing on you. Your car will not go back to stock height but it will go about an inch under that when you lift up your car for the winter.

Winters will always take a toll on coilovers, especially if they are corroded stuck making it hard to adjust. As long as you take care of them by cleaning the valves and stuff you should be fine. Even if they do sieze from salt and corrosion all you have to do is use pb blaster or freeze off. They're very easy to adjust so adjusting them / raising them shouldn't be a problem at all. I know from experience.

With F&F, you never gonna be able to get back at stock height! At the max height, you're gonna be already dropped about 2.5".

If you wanna get back at stock height (or close to stock) during winter, then consider Teins. BUT Teins do not go that low. So it is a trade off.

I rode mine all through winter without even raising it this year. I was just high enough to get by. They were fine, type II's are a great choice.

we have gotten 7 to 10 inches in one day before....nothing as bad as some of the northeastern states...but it still sucks b/c some roads dont get cleaned until the next day or the day after.
