Hey guys, I am thinking about another car just to have around for fun. Have around 1,000. What do you guys think for something to fix up and have fun in. All I want is a little car thats a manual.

Also, does anyone know an estimate of a stock J30 Auto to manual direct swap? Been thinking about that as well

A second car would be twice the insurance, repairs, and headaches that you have now.
Save a little more and do a six speed swap, you won't regret it.

My trans just went at 220k and I was looking at six speeds from an Acura Cl-S and they were about 1000-15000 if I remember right. Just out of my price range at the time. :madrun: Plus you would need that harness and labor.

Civic's and Integra's are a good little project car if you can find a non raped one.
Parts for them are cheaper and there is a lot more aftermarket support.

If it was up to me, I would not get another car, especially if I only have $1k to spend. If you want to add to the fun factor, I would just upgrade your suspension with TL/CL + Neuspeed front strut bar combo and Progress rear sway bar. And maybe full coilovers. That should add up close to $1k with some change left over.

Yeah, but the car has 175 on it, its getting old. But I do love it, Im not going to do any mods unless its a manual. It just doesnt feel right in an auto.

But how hard is it to convert it to a manual with the stock J30. Im certainly not doing it myself, but what would it be for a mechanic

Have fun, look to spend over $4,000 + some if the mechanic isn't familiar with the J series.

To be honest, if it isn't your own work put into it, it isn't as enjoyable.
