Crutchfield charges enough to give great customer service, simple as that. If you can install the radio correctly then all the service in the world means nothing - short of unit failure (which most likely would be a return to the manfacturer anyway). And as your local friend is saying, you can find what you need local to avoid shipping costs.

Since you are not looking for any features that are not standard these days then just order it from walmart. They ship it to a local store and have the install parts too. For instance, JVC, Sony Pioneer. All of them are plenty good for daily general use.

Regardless of where you order it, I really don't care because it's not my money, the CDA-105 is a fine unit but will not likely have much to offer over an $70 HU at Walmart. I normally would recommend SE or PE, but the shipping to Canada makes Walmart hard to beat.

I'm running one of those crutch field iPod interfaces on my stock h/u & I have an amp & a sub hooked up as well. Just spliced into some cables. Cheap, but annoying if you don't know what you're doing. System works greatttt

Just look for a decent HU on kijiji or something, what ever suits your needs/liking and buy the kit/hardness from walmart.
you can probably find a HU for 50+ from kijiji, or one get it from bestbuy/walmart if you don't trust used ones.
If you're looking for just aux feature then bestbuy/walmart has some for around $70+, I didn't think I need bluetooth before but after I got this HU, it's pretty convenient.

Kit and harnesses are basically all the same, as for headunit, w.e suits your needs
I got all of mine set up for under $100 (if I upgrade I would look for a HU with a higher band equalizer that also still has bluetooth, aux, colour options)

have you guys considered getting something like iSimple (JV6 has one I believe)? You can connect your ipod and control volume/music via steering wheel (EX feature).

I just got RID of a double-din unit. I cant stand those touch-screen interfaces.. when driving you definitely need tactile feedback!

That being said, ANY sony or pioneer headunit is pure love, especially the newer ones with sub outputs.. FYI mutiple aux inputs, bluetooth and USB support is a must!
