Guys I need your help. I just replaced the oil pan on my accord and now the oil light is always on. I started the car up and it didn't sound good so I am afraid to start it up again. There seemed to be a lot of air pressure built up when I took the oil cap off to add some extra oil, hoping it was just low. I replaced the filter and I used oem parts and a new gasket. Nothing seems to be leaking. What do you think it could be?

did you check your dipstick? are you showing that your full? maybe you just need to let oil pressure build back up

Checked the dipstick. It is a little above halfway between the two dots. I am letting it sit for a while. I don't know if I should run the engine with that light on at all. I looked around at some forums and a few mentioned that it may be the oil pressure, which could just mean a faulty sensor. I just feel that it's too coincidental to be the sensor.

So the oil light is on? That light is for oil pressure, and you know you're not low on oil. Try starting the car without the PCV valve in the valve cover, that thing may be clogged and causing pressure to build up.

Okay, I checked out the pcv valve. The valve itself seems to be fine. However when I take it out and start up the car the light goes out. I feel like it has too much air pressure building up.

I think the PCV valve is clogged/seized and causing the pressure to keep the oil pump from picking up oil... try replacing it with a new one... I like the Napa ones... the Fram ones seem to break on me all the time.

I just got back from replacing the valve. The new one seemed to let only slightly more air through. When I started the car the light stayed off for a second or two then blinked a few times and came on steady. I added a bit more oil just in case, but now I am closer to the top dot on the dipstick and I am still getting the light.

Ok, so I got a new idea. I put in an intake a few months ago and when I did that I plugged up the other vent in the valve cover. I was thinking maybe this is clogging it up too much. I just unplugged it and replaced it with a little filter from auto zone. The light now isn't steady. It just blinks once like every 10 seconds. The engine doesn't sound the same either. It kind of sounds like it's knocking, but it's so hard to hear I don't know if it's just me being paranoid or what. I was thinking about test driving it. Do you think that is a bad idea?

dont just keep adding oil. i would think that bearings sitting in a pool of oil is not good. of course that takes quite a bit. The oil light does not mean your low on oil. it means you have very low oil pressure. your oil pump could have gone bad.
I would take off your valve cover and and see if there is oil coming out of feed galleries. If i recall oil is sent into the head on the f23 by about 3 holes towards on the oil filter side of the head. there should be oil in them. spin the crank by hand and see if oil comes out of those holes.

The best way to tell and make sure your oil pressure sensor is not messed up, is get a oil pressure gauge. you hook it up where the oil pressure sensor is. crank the engine and see if you get oil pressure.

I WOULD NOT start the engine again until you find out if you have oil pressure or not. it can take less than seconds to spin a bearing with no oil pressure. have you heard any knocking sounds? If your oil pump is bad and you have started the car. I would probably check and replace the bearings.

Just to make sure, we're talking about the CEL light right, not the Maint light? Are you starting the car when the light turns on or just turning it to "on" so that it sees power but doesnt start.
