I recently swapped my front bumper from the 01-02 bumper to a 98-00. I was told at a body shop that its better to paint a front bumper while its on the car to match everything the best. I need some opinions on if its better to paint the bumper while on or off the car. When I got the car someone painted a front bumper and it didnt match the fenders.

be like it is
for best results especially on an old, dark car the paint would need to be intentionally "faded" to match with everything else. a body shop should be able to do this for you if you bring your car in. blending it on the car is for the pros...

once you get it done, i would personally take the bumper off to avoid taping everything or getting any overspray on the car.

Well I just put on brand new headlights too. I have been to this shop a lot before so I trust them and they better not get anything on my headlights or I will be pissed. Also my car is satin silver.

OFF. you should always paint any parts OFF the car. even with dash trim, center console, etc.

If never seen any reputable shop paint bumpers on the car. Usually, even if you are doing a full repaint, you would still take off the bumpers.

Now they might want to have the car their but they still shouldn't be painted on the car.
