Be steady with the tape, don't want to have to keep peeling it off and trying to reapply.

did you use a razor blade to cut the excess tape? i figure that would be the sharpest and best thing to use.

you need to rub with a real fine sandpaper then prime and paint its on for good.
If the chrome finish is already coming off the parts, then you should sand the pieces so there's no lines in the pieces from the flaking, and then you can either use the blackout tape or the plasti-dip. There's really no good way to get it looking like chrome again. Unless you can find new trim pieces or snag some from a junkyard car.what about the people that have the metal colored (plastic) molding like this one pictured below, mine is coming off and the paint is peeling off it (not the right year accord but you can clearly see the same metal molding that comes on our 6ga's
uhhhmmm you can take off the trimmings to save you time tape and newpaper. but dont break those clips! but GO BLACK CHROME.
