I need a new lens that won't break the bank and will give me a good range....ideas??

Took some shots today and yesterday of aircraft flying and some of the pictures turned out okay but most with the lens at full zoom look like ****ing ****.... FML

Using a Sigma 70-210/4-5.6

Canon 100-400 L :3 Oh wait, that still breaks the bank.

During the day... 210mm at f/5.6 and ISO 100... should get you a shutter speed of like 1/200-1/400... enough to freeze the plane pretty sharp if you follow it with an AF point. I can get those shutter speeds at 300mm f/6.3 at ISO 100...

You could get a 200L prime... you'll get a nice aperture of 2.8 with that... good enough for almost 2 stops more light and a shutter of 1/800 or more

Dunno how much it is, probably bank though. Could also pick up a used 70-200L f/4 for $750 or so. Depends on what breaking the banks is... more light at longer focal lengths = $$$

Some ducks, MPLS skyline, awesome cars driving through the rich part of town (LAke Calhoun, GT-R)

Okay I lie, they're not that good. I shot most of them with the Tamron and lens is just failing the crap out of me right now. Looks like the 70-200L will be my next photography purchase.
