well, to be honest, i think the cheapest EF Lens you'll find is the 50mm F1.8 and that's barely touching the $50 cap.

What do you guys think about Tamron 17-50 F/2.8? worth getting it for $320? Excellent condition... Though I really want Canon 17-40 L f/4 but I know its not that good in low light....

I haven't heard too many rave reviews about Tamron lenses, but then again, I haven't used one on my camera so I can't pass judgment on it.

If you don't have the 18-55 IS I would much rather get that than the nifty fity or the 28-XXX you were looking at. 28mm on a crop isn't wide enough for a walkaround and 50mm is way too long (IMO). Might be good as a specialty (low light) and possibly for portrait style framing, but overall the 18-55 IS will be much more useful.
