so i had 2 rockford fosgate p2's before and i pretty much liked them but sold them. I'm now planning on getting a single 10/12" alpine type r sub. what do you guys think of that sub? still deciding on what amp to get, but most likely its gonna be around a 1000watt amp

Type-R's are the SH!T!!! My buddy has two of them in his focus and boy do they bump.. nice clean and crisp. I'd get one myself if they weren't like $200 a sub

i also agree, type R subs are great. im personally a pioneer man, just cause... well, idk why really...

but yea, the biggest thing when dealing with subs in the range of the type R, would be having a good box. now, i dont know much about ported vs enclosed vs bandpass... but id imagine a really good box will make all the difference in the world. im about to change from two subs to one, and thats my big dilema... what to do about a box...

what ever you choose i recommend get a 12" only because it can hit low notes better and more effiently than a 10" can. plus the box can also make or break the final out of a subs overall sound. as for me i have 2 12"s in a seal box because i like by bass to be tight and accurate.

Type R's are nice, as long as they are tuned and set up right they sound great.

thanks guys, well so far i have a deal for a brand new type R 10" for 90 dollars from some local guy off craigslist. I'd really love to get the 12"... i'm still debating about it. Theres a local shop/site that sells the stuff pretty cheap. I believe a new 12" type R is like 125.

if anyones interested in getting new subs at a pretty good price that sites pretty cheap. If your socal and live close to valencia they let you pick it up for like 5 bucks or sometimes they give free shipping.

depends on what your goals are and your budget..

I had a single JL W6v12 w/ 1000watt MTX thunder amp and it was amazing, both bass and quality..
Then i had a Single Kicker 12" L7 with a 750watt Hifonics amp and it hit very very hard but didnt sound as clear, just alot of bass.
*all in ported box's*
