Okay, so I wanted to wire up some HIDs to my reverse light with a toggle switch (Tailgaters/high beamers beware :kenny: ) and drew up a little sketch while I was at work hehehe.

So take a look at that and make sure I did everything correctly please .. this is my first time messing around with relays, so I just want to make sure I don't set my car on fire.

Also, what gauge wires should I be investing in? 12ga for all the other wires and 8ga for battery to relay ?

I feel like this is just an accident waiting to happen. And you'll blow your ballast so fast from the HIDs turning on and off.

You can't have the acc and reverse wires going together. Just asking for problems.

not a engineer or anything but i agree you cant have the ACC and the oem reverse wires together or you will be sending 12 back through the OEM reverse wires into the ECU but what you can do if put a DIODE in line of the OEM reverse wires and that will only allow current to flow from the OEM wires into the Relay and not back when you hit the switch! should be no problem at that point! and if i were you i wouldnt buy a set of expencive HID's to do this.. i would recoment just a cheap 30 buck set from ebay.. if they burn up just replace them haha

GL bro! nice idea!

Someone else talked about doing this on here, but I don't think it ever materialized.

Hopefully it's not something that will be done so often as to burn out your HID's.

I'm not a wiring guy either, but I can tell you thicker gauge is better, so 8/10 would probably be best.

Thanks for the input guys ! I have three (3) sets of ballasts and random bulbs at home, which is what inspired me to do this.

Also, how else would I be able to wire a switch into this thing without interfering with the other wires ?

the only way i see is soldering in a diode into the wire it would be cheap and easy got o radio shack i thinkt hey sell them there for a dollar or 2 just make sure of the amperage you would be working with
