pop from transmission

history behind the problem is at times when in neutral and i go to shift into first it does not go into gear almost like its blocked. to get it in i either have to slowly let out the clutch and it slips into gear or i try to go and it grinds some then goes into gear.

okay so tonight was going through a drivethru i had the car in neutral and shifted into first ( 5 speed manual) it would not go into gear so i proceded to slowly let out the clutch until it sliped in/ once i did that it went into gear but as i started rolling a loud pop came from the transmission. it wasnt a pop like popping out of gear because it stayed in gear but then the clutch felt loose and had to rev up higher to get momentum to move. not really sure what happened and if its okay. where should i start to look to solve or find the problem.

i dont know bout mt but if u dont see anything outside of the tranny liike fluids im guessing u mite have to pop it open........just my guess good luck

now is it like a brick wall that is not letting you go into gear or a spongy wall?

how are the other gears? anything else noticable different than the loose clutch now?

Probably the same problem as you Matt, the splines aren't lubed so the clutch disc can't fully disengage from the flywheel and/or pressure plate and causing the block.

i never had this problem though. sounds like he is talking from a dead stop having issues

ur gonna have to open it up cause it might be ur cincro's....

cause i did a tranny on an audi s4 with the same problem

its like a brick wall until i slowly let out the clutch and it goes in or grinds in. the other gears have similar problem. mostly 1st and 3rd. but last night was the first time i got this loud pop from it

this is most like your clutch going bad either the fly wheel or the pressure plate

I have the same issue from a stop sometimes, all I do is roll a few inches in second gear then go to 1st. It doesnt happen often.
