alpine has a better system where its just a cable from the back of the unit and has a female usb end. you can put that baby out of sight and you wont have a flash drive sticking out

yes it is a flash memory stick...its really convenient...if you have a 4 gigabyte drive you can hold tons of music...all you have to do is drag and drop your music from your computer onto the drive and you're ready to go
