So I've been working on the swap and I've run into a problem I haven't seen anybody else have from reading through posts here and on the guide on v6performance.

I have a 2002 EX V6 and tried swapping in a 99 Prelude (not sure the trim) shifter and was not able to mount the shifter where my preexisting stock shifter used to be mounted on. Once attached to the shifter cable, the shifter assembly is about an inch or two too far back such that I can't bolt it down as is. Also if I trimmed any of the aesthetic pieces (the shifter bezel or my center wood trim) to fit, the shifter would be positioned too far back and I would have a gap at the front of my center wood trim.

Not sure if this is an issue other people had and were able to quickly address it, or perhaps the '99 Prelude shifter isn't quite a perfect fit with my 2002 EX V6. At the moment I have the shifter installed anyway and am really enjoying having a gated shifter but I have to say I was really looking forward to being able to use the Prelude bezel in my interior.

I ordered a shift boot online to cover up the opening I've left in my wood trim for the time being while I sit and wait for maybe a '00 or '01 Prelude to pop up at a local junkyard. When one does I'm planning to bring my Accord shifter and physically verify that a newer Prelude shifter assembly is built that inch or so difference that makes it a better fit for my Accord.

I think right now my account is too new to post pictures of the work I've done so far but expect those to come up when I'm able. I have some good pictures of the assembly that may clear up some confusion people have had over what needs to be removed.
Use photobucket links to post pics. Some say youll need some washer to put on the front bolts to even the height and for trim bezal some have reused the accord one since its wider.

Good idea on photobucket. Not sure why I didn't think of that earlier. However the problem I have isn't related to the washers or anything. The position of the assembly once I have it connected is too far back to mount it. It doesn't sit where my stock shifter used to sit, so I can't mount it at all, and on top of that any bezel will not be able to fit when I put the wood trim back on.

Hmm i dont know much about the prelude shifter.. i got myself a Cl one which Tl-Cl are similar and 99 have a 8 pin plug and 00-03 have a 10 pin plug.

Once i get a chance to install mine ill do a full write up on it.

What part do you cut out to let the shifter got from neutral to reverse and back to park?? I see a V mechanism that stops it from going forward from
Neutral.

I cant see the whole mechanism cuz my shift knob is stuck on tight.

I send you the pics in our emails. remember you wont be using all the pin-outs on the shifter because our cars don't have the tiptronic tranny. You can also push the tab down so u can move the shifter, and when you get to neutral release the tab and try to go into reverse.... The piece blocking you is the piece to cut off

Ok i was playing with it and see it block it from going right and up once that is out youll be able to to go right and up to reverse and park.

While driving can i move it in the tiptronic area and keep it their since its still in D4.

The Tiptronic is an electrical signal not Mechanical. Basicall you tap it the computer shifts the gear. It wont be wired so you'll be ok
