Quick question...Escort released a new radar, the 9500ix. I have the 9500i. Im thinking about upgrading to the 9500ix. I called Escort and they said that I can actually send in my 9500i and they can convert my 9500i to a 9500ix.

It only cost 129.95.

Do you guys think its worth it? let me know

the only difference between the two, if you look on their site, is the Programmable Features.

the 9500i's are:

* Power-On Indication
* AutoVolume (On/Off)
* AutoMute (On/Off)
* Power-On Sequence
* Signal Strength Meter
* SpeedAlert (On/Off)
* Units (English/Metric)
* Voice (On/Off)
* 5 Levels of Brightness Control
* Dark Mode
* Radar/Laser Bands

while the 9500ix's are:

* Power-On Indication
* SpeedAlert (On/Off)
* AutoLearn (On/Off)
* Signal Strength Meter
* AutoMute (On/Off)
* AutoVolume (On/Off)
* AutoPower (On/Off)
* Units (English/Metric)
* Voice (On/Off)
* Dark Mode
* Radar/Laser Bands
* Markers
* 5 Levels of Brightness Control

for the minimal differences between the two, i dont think its worth the $130 at all. dont forget to add shipping to those prices as well. cuz im sure youll have to pay to ship it there, AND back.

Psh, I'm perfectly content with my $50 Cobra detector. Picks up lasers & radar from ridiculously far.. I think by my own estimation on the highway I once picked up one about 6 miles out. I got it hardwired too ftw, I hate having to turn them on, I forget.

yea, mines hardwired too. Dont forget they both have gps capabilities. What I like about the 9500ix is that it knows where speed and redlight cameras are plus the software is upgradable. Every month Escort has updates available for downloads.

you really need to know where the redlights cameras are? seriously? thats a stupid feature. unless you plan on running them, its really useless.....its just something a company can add to its features list.

still not worth the upgrade tho, if you ask me.
