So i have two questions, i just bought an Accord for my little sister. The car comes with 2 keys, one black oem and one aftermarket. The black one starts the car, whereas the aftermarket won't. The key will turn, but the car won't turn over.

My questions is this, where can i get another copy of the key made to start the car? The dealer wants $40 bucks for it, if i pick up one from ebay, can i get it cut and have it work? or would i need to have it programed. Here's a picture of the two keys.

Question 2, i bought the car from the original owner, the battery was recently replaced, and now the radio is asking for the code. I pulled the card out from the manual and punched in the code, but it doesn't work. I tried to disconnect the battery to reset everything and that doesn't work either.

I've also pulled the radio out to check to see if the serial numbers match, but the sticker is worn so you can't read it. What are my options?

I would rather not buy an aftermarket headunit, as i don't want her messing with the radio while driving. Just looking for a stock radio.

Thanks for any help.

be like it is
dealer, good locksmiths for the key
dealer for the radio code from the VIN

if the previous owner changed out the radio, youre up ****'s creek. look around the manual (extensively) to see if theres any hand-written numbers anywhere, indicating the newer radio code...

does the serial number match the card to the car?

and for #1 you need to have honda make you another key.

Hey there Ryan, thanks for the help. The dealer said that they can't help because they can't read the serial number.

I thought i read somewhere, that you didn't have to pull out the radio to determine what the serial number was, you could push a sequence of numbers and the display would show the serial number.

Ok i'll call around for the key.

Thanks

I tried to pull the radio out to see if it matches, but i can't read the sticker, it's worn down. It's not because someone scratched it out, but rather it's worn down from something sitting on top of it.
