I sold my subs and amp, but when I had them I just did that. haha
I like the idea of using a large hinge though, that sounds like a really good idea that wouldn't mess up the trunk liner.

Or better yet, maybe a larger L bracket that goes to the metal underneath, and comes out towards the rear seat and you can bolt it to that?

I don't worry about this anymore, I gave my two JL 10w0's to my little brother along with some CL S rims, and black housed head lights and told him to get a CG for his first car.
