As of this point, I don't think it is necessary to power my audio system consisting of 2 amps (62.5x2 + 360x1 watts rms). Reason is that I am finding that I have to hook up the battery to a charger weekly. My 1 farad capacitor shows voltage between 10-12 V when I'm listening to music after a full charge.
The battery up front doesn't require this maintenance. It's always charged fully.
I have a 7 year old high output alternator (150 amps) from alterstart (eBay) and two Odyssey PC1500 batteries. Big 3 has also been completed with 0 gauge wires. My system is being powered with a 4 gauge dual amp installed 10 years ago.
Personally I am thinking that the battery up front is being powered sufficiently with the alternator and not enough to power the second battery via the isolator. Since the system is only about 500 watts RMS I believe this should be enough for the one battery.
