Alright. So this has been almost a year in the making. After losing my SVT Focus in the tornadoes that came through eastern Kentucky in 2012, being homeless for several months, and spending a lovely month of snow in an 83 Honda Civic, I stepped up and swung for something newer than the tin can (though it was a tank).
I bought my Accord with somewhere around 177k on the clock. It was the nicest thing I could find in a 5 speed on a local buy-here-pay-here lot. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the day I brought it home. No exhaust from the cat back. No climate control knobs. These were minor bumps in the road to getting out of the Mirthmobile. The next day saw me swapping panels and knobs from 3 different climate control units to make a single working one.
The starting board.
From there, Craigslist has been my friend.
I had to find an exhaust. Received a citation for an "inadequate muffling device", despite the number of rusted out and straight piped vehicles around here.
Exhaust - Bought. 80$ and an hour trip.
Creeping around a bit longer netted me another decent deal.
125$ and another hour on the road. Tires and all.
And this is as she sits now. But not for long.
Within the next week, KSports courtesy of Ghost Ryder will be replacing the blown factory setup and provided research holds true, 7th gen leather to replace my bent and broken cloth seats.
The next month will hopefully see sway bars, 5 lug/V6 brake swap, JTC short shifter, and rewrapping interior panels will be completed.
I'll be sure to continue updating this as the process goes. Thanks for such an excellent community here. I'm looking forward to being a part of it.
