So in southern california (LOS ANGELES) i'd say its about mid 50s-low 60s right now outside at 11:55PM...I was driving home from the gfs house and its about a 15mile drive, from hacienda heights to san gabriel area..I noticed there was smoke coming from my hood earlier when i got her house, so i called up the homie, he came over took a look around couldnt really figure it out. we're both pretty noob to the engine stuff, but we're learning as each day goes on. i was low on motor oil, no doubt about that, so i poured in a quick qt in there..thought id be okay, got home same problem smoking. i took a look around, and my radiator cap is smoking quite a bit...and theres like oil spill all over the freakn place on top of hoses n sht..if you look behind the radiator, underneath the fans n sht theres a little platform, and theres a bunch of oil n sht there. any ideas n suggestions??

check all the hoses coming from the radiator and make sure they're properly clamped down. also check the fluid lvl of the radiator to see if it's low(do that first...lol). that's all the advice i can give. motor oil is not my specialty

because your motor's hot, any liquid that touches it will start smoking. idk what might be leaking though lol make sure all your caps are tight, get your oil change if you havent, and make sure all your fluids are good.

x2

i would def go get your oil changed and spend a good 20-30 minutes checking all your hoses and caps making sure they are all tight.

well the needle was where it usually should be at..like right in the middle..

so i took another look under the hood with john(mrlazie) and there was a bunch of dried blue fluid so im guessing the coolant..but idk how it spilled and got all over the place..went to kragens, they didnt really tell me much..
tomorrow will be another try at figuring out the problem..

any other suggestions? ideas?

i also did notice that there was a hose..that seemed to be connected to the radiator...on the very bottom near the bottom of the fans..and it goes all the way to the other side where a friend of mine said looks like its going to the tranny...but right between theres this weird like plastic connector or something...and right under that theres a good amount of oil/coolant spill... anybody knows wth that plastic thing is?? should it be replaced just in case?
