I go to school for automotive and I am almost done. We need to complete 15 practicals in the semester to pass. They can be anything from little to big jobs. I have a 2001 accord sedan 4cyl. I was doing a valve cover gasket on my car today. I figured it was not hard since I have seen people do it before. I took off all 5 bolts the 2 in front and there is 3 longer ones in the back of the cover. I took old gasket out and then put on new one and put in bolts went to get torque wrench since it says to torque to 7ft pounds. I put in the 2 smaller bolts in front of valve cover first and was torquing when I heard a snap. I cracked the bottom part of the bolt off. I had to tap it first to make a hole then drill it out with a drill bit and had to cover everything from metal falling in. The bolt did not snap off flat it was curved which was harder to drill. At the end almost got it out but I had no time to get it done. I put cover back on and tightened down and the other bolt in front snapped off since these bolts were old. I hand tightened down and went slow and it still snapped. I called Honda they needed vin number and had to special order the bolts. I am probably getting them done at Honda since it is down the street and they will do it right. Instead of driving to school and leaking oil like it is now. Anyone have any opinions or anything that can help me out I will appreciate it.
